Background

Calvin born seemingly into the institution of the adoption and foster circuit from day one, he has not got nor has he ever had any real clue of the identity of his birth parents. He never really had a settled child hood, and this could be put down to the fact the system moved him around foster homes and care homes; this led him to eventually become a ‘problem child’. Eventually by the age of eleven he was managed to be settled into permanent homing situation with the Elwood family in the town of Darlington. This was not the happiest of arrangements but Calvin put up with the arrangement, but due to he had made friends in that town that he did not want to loose.

Family life with the Elwood foster parents was far from ideal, the family of conservative fundamental Christians (better term?) with no sense of fun and more then their fair share of self righteousness to counter the lack of fun. The difference between the Calvin and his foster family grated over time, Cal just behaving enough to stay in his area, his foster parents not wanting to spoil their local reputation by being the foster parents that had to give up a child. This mix and matched scenario of needs drives and outcomes came to an a logical predicament, Cal got less love then his legal siblings Jessica and Harry Elwood and as such with less love and attention more freedoms.

In an odd way this lack of lime light was not either a good or bad thing, it meant more that he would always be third guess more then anything. All in by the age of 14 Cal had learnt not to care about this, knowing that his foster folks would keep this foster agreement up wanting it to be there as much as he did. For as boring as his foster parent could be and for that matter uptight too, they had money, food heat and warmth to offer (that and their concern for the status quoi made them quite malleable at times).

Passing high school with a mix of good grades, his foster parents tried to steer him in the way of a ‘practical’ career, which was probably the exact reason he continued to study the art and fun subjects. Much to his foster parents dismay he seemed to do well in this topic, espally in the “girly” area of tailoring. To their dismay also whist their flesh and blood got normal part time jobs for their money like good honest folk, Cal took to creating, repairing and modifying pieces clothing for cash for the other students at the local college. They also heard some rumours about him making out with other boys on occasions, but those where just spiteful lies, yep just spiteful lies.

He passed his college course with flying colours, much to his parent’s surprise. But for them was a ray of hope, he may in fact grow up, see things there way and do something useful with his education now. Maybe he would study accountancy, law or even office skills. Filled with hope and optimum they dragged their god fearing ass’s to the internet and looked for courses and universities, with paper work at the ready they approached Cal after a passing college celebration. Much to their dismay Cal had seen this coming and had made his mind up himself already on the topic, he opted for business management which was good. The problem was his other courses he picked; they included art, music and creative writing.

Further more he had picked Lancaster University over their choices, not that they minded him going away from town, but they did mind a place they could not spy on him. But then again “spy” is such a harsh term; they just wanted to protect him from the world. Either way his mind was set, and after much argument it was established he would do this. He had even arranged his own student loan in this time, which was a wise move as his parents had figured funding would be one trump card they had over any choice he made. Sadly at this juncture after the ‘debate’ his adoptive father decided to make a rage spurred wager with the boy, that they would pay his tuition for these courses fully, if he passed all of them he wouldn’t have to pay them back if he failed it would be a full pay back with having to pay back by working for them. Cal accepted this term, free tuition after all was not a bad thing, even if it was given for the wrong reasons. (Cont me)

Enlightenment

On October 27th 2008 (s4e03b), Calvin was visited by a mysterious stranger (who we believe to be the fey Jaye Hollow) who broke through his windows and killed him. Since then, he appears to have returned from the dead as a vampire.
